It was heavily influenced by Theosophy, and structured around a belief in the Ascended Masters- a hierarchy of supernatural beings that includes Jesus Christ. According to this belief, the "Ascended Masters" are humans who have lived in a succession of reincarnations in physical bodies or cosmic beings.
